John Hazlewood, Co-Founder and Vice President
John Hazelwood is a social media influencer and mental health advocate in the fields of ADHD and black men’s healing awareness. After struggling with emotional dysregulation and issues with productivity during college, he discovered he had ADHD at age 21. Since his diagnosis, he has found an unwavering passion for bringing awareness to the need for mental healthcare for minorities, especially as he continues through his own journey.
In 2019, he joined Marc Almodovar and helped found Men’s ADHD Support Group on Facebook, the largest men’s ADHD support group on the platform, and now a nationwide nonprofit. He also co-hosts the Men’s ADHD Support Group podcast, and has built a large social media following by promoting mental health inspired content. As a social media influencer, he works with groups such as Black Men Heal and Therapy for Black Men among many other minority mental health advocacy groups. Speakers such as Rene Brooks, (BlackGirlLostKeys), Jessica McCabe (HowToADHD), and Brendan Mahan of ADHD Essentials have recognized him as a powerful voice in the mental health social media world.
He is an inspiring motivational speaker whose goal is to inspire, empower, and educate men, especially those of color, that safe spaces need to exist, mental health is important, and he works to be a much needed voice for men of color in the ADHD community. Through vulnerability, transparency, honesty, and resilience, he hopes to bridge the gap in understanding neurodiversity, sharing his own struggles, successes, setbacks, and ongoing journey through living, and even thriving with ADHD.
